Spiritan Pedagogy

Imagining Student Success

Across campus a growing number of faculty, graduate students, and administrators are reflecting on the idea of a Spiritan pedagogy. What are the hallmarks of Spiritan pedagogy? Are particular methods and practices particularly suited to Spiritan pedagogy? How does Spiritan pedagogy align with current innovations in education? How does it compare with the pedagogical approaches found in educational settings that are animated by other religious charisms, for example Jesuit or Marianist? What institutional conditions are conducive to Spiritan pedagogy?

The conversation continues this academic year. This year's theme, Imagining Student Success, is intended to foster dialogue on student-centered teaching in our Spiritan context in light of Duquesne's anticipated strategic plan. How do we imagine student success in light of our Spiritan ethos? How do we promote these outcomes as educators? Our events will include perspectives from new and experienced faculty, and from students.

Duquesne faculty and staff are welcome.
