An often overlooked weapon in the arsenal of criminal investigators and litigators is the relatively new but growing discipline of audio forensics, which involves the acquisition, analysis and evaluation of sound recordings that may ultimately be presented as evidence in a court of law. By submitting acoustic evidence to precise scientific measurement and interpretation, audio forensic experts are able to bring significant forensic value to such questions as the number, timing, echo and acoustic signature of recorded sounds.

Please join nationally renowned audio forensic experts Ed and Mike Primeau, sound designer Don Maue, and audio forensic expert witness Thomas Kikta, for this opportunity to gain new insights into the uses of acoustic evidence, including the importance of audio in a video recording, how that evidence is interpreted through scientific theories and subjective opinions, and the role of acoustic evidence in litigation. In addition to case studies of the Laquan McDonald shooting by Chicago police officer Jason VanDyke in 2014 and the Trayvon Martin shooting by Florida neighborhood watch coordinator George Zimmerman in 2012, this program will re-examine some seldom studied aspects of the JFK and RFK assassinations.

This program is approved by the Pennsylvania CLE Board for 6 hours of Substantive CLE credit and by the Pennsylvania Coroners Education Board for 6 hours of Coroners Continuing Education credit, and is being offered both ONSITE and ONLINE.
