Dr. Matthias Okoye, a practicing physician and lawyer, is currently director of forensic pathology for Pathology Medical Services, a Lincoln, Nebraska-based private consulting firm. In addition, he is an adjunct professor of forensic sciences at Nebraska Wesleyan University and an associate professor of forensic pathology at Creighton University School of Medicine.
Dr. Okoye consults with the state of Nebraska’s Office of the Attorney General, serves as a coroner’s physician and forensic pathologist for several counties in the Lincoln and Omaha areas, and is an attending pathologist at Lincoln’s Bryan LGH Medical Center and St. Elizabeth Community Health Center. He is also president and CEO of the Lincoln law firm of Okoye & Associates.
Born in Nigeria, Dr. Okoye received his medical degree from the University of Lagos before serving as a senior house officer in surgery and pathology for the Nigerian Ministry of Health. In 1976, he came to the United States to conduct residencies in anatomic and clinical pathology at the University of Kansas School of Medicine and in forensic pathology at the state of Maryland’s Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
Dr. Okoye later earned both a master of science degree in pharmaceutical science from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and a law degree from the Detroit College of Law at Michigan State University. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Pathology and the American Board of Legal Medicine.
