UCSL Proposal Review Process
Courses seeking service-learning designation should be submitted to the University Core Curriculum director, who will then forward the submission to the designation subcommittee (see the Proposal Submission Guidance page for more information).
The designation subcommittee is part of the Service-Learning Advisory Committee. It is comprised of voting faculty members and the Director of the Office of Service-Learning as an ex officio member.
- The criteria specified by the University Core Curriculum is mapped onto a rubric used by the committee to guide decision-making.
- Faculty members are welcome to attend review meetings to further clarify their submission. Contact Dr. Lina Dostilio (Director, Academic Community Engagement) to learn more.
- Decisions are communicated in writing to the applicant by the members of the review committee.
- Any submissions not awarded the designation are encouraged to work with OSL to resubmit during the next review period.
