Meet the Community Engagement Scholars

Current Scholars

Fabiola Deller

Fabiola is a student in the Nursing School. She can also speak five languages, and would like to learn more.

Columbia Dyson


Columbia is originally from Maryland. She is currently a freshman nursing student in the Duqesne's Nursing School. She is a member of the dance theatre program as well as the Red and Blue Crew.

Meron S. Metaferia

Meron is international student from Ethiopia. She attended Seton Hill University for her freshman year. She transferred to Duquesne, Fall 2016. She is majoring in Biochemistry and minoring in Mathematics. She loves volunteering, meeting new people, solving math problems and adventure.

Kayla O'Donnell

Kayla is a junior in the School of Education. She is involved with Crossroads Christian Ministry Team, Strong Women Strong Girls, Cross-Cultural Mission Experience, and the Urban Education Program.

Cynthia Umutoni

Cynthia is a sophmore in the Palumbo School of Business. She is pursuing a dual degree in International Business and Finance with a pyschology minor. She serves as a cultural ambassador. Her passions include poetry, social justice and empowering underprivileged and minority communities.

Jordan Wise


Jordan is currently in his junior year at Duquesne University School of Nursing. Encompassed with vast exposure to the medical field, compassion for others and honesty he hopes joining in community engaged learning will help him to provide holistic care to his future patients. Jordan is currently a member of the black student union and student commuters union.
