Aaron Pisula currently serves on the faculty of the Mary Pappert School of Music as Ensemble Librarian and Assistant to the Director of Orchestral Activities. He received the Bachelor and Master of Music degrees at Duquesne, studying with the trombonists of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. As a librarian, he has had instruction from Joann Vosburgh, Lisa Gedris, and Jeffrey Turner. Aaron has been fortunate to have been named both a semi-finalist and finalist for major ensemble library positions across the country, including those with the "President's Own" United States Marine Band, Phoenix Symphony, and Cincinnati Symphony. He was also selected as an alternate for the Tanglewood Music Center Fellowship in 2014. In addition to his duties at Duquesne, Aaron maintains a versatile freelancing career, performing as a trombonist throughout the southwestern PA tri-state area. He is currently the principal trombonist of the Johnstown Symphony and regularly performs with the Youngstown Symphony, South Florida Symphony, The Allegheny City Ragtime Orchestra, and with various big bands and chamber ensembles in the region. Other highlights have included performances with the Pittsburgh Opera Orchestra, the River City Brass Band, members of the Pittsburgh Symphony, and the internationally known vocal ensemble, Il Divo.
