Biography

Dr. Kasey Christopher is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Duquesne University. She received a BS in Biological Sciences from Cornell University, where she concentrated in Genetics and Development, researching genetic control of chloroplast function in plants and embryonic polarity in C. elegans. She earned her Ph.D. in Genetics at Yale University, where she studied the role of the small organelle known as the cilium in signaling during mouse embryonic development.

Dr. Christopher maintains an ongoing interest in developmental genetics and is currently fully focused on science education at Duquesne. Her teaching philosophy centers on employing her practical research background to help students understand course material in the context of real-world science, and incorporating active learning strategies and intensive writing into biology courses.
