Laura Crimm initially joined Duquesne University's School of Nursing as a visiting instructor in the Family Nurse Practitioner Program for the 2015-16 academic year. She is an alumnus of Duquesne University's School of Nursing receiving her BSN from Duquesne University in 1990. She then spent 5 years working at UPMC-Presbyterian Hospital as a clinical nurse on the Heart Lung Transplant Unit. Ms. Crimm decided to pursue a MSN as a Family Nurse Practitioner and graduated from University of Pittsburgh in 1997.
Ms. Crimm has had the opportunity to work in a variety of settings throughout her career including: Family Practice, Internal Medicine, and Retail Medicine Settings. She was also the primary provider in an Occupational Medicine Practice for several years. She is currently working with several physician colleagues and nurse practitioners in a Palliative Medicine and Geriatric Practice providing care in Geriatric Facilities in Beaver County. Her goal is to share her work experiences with her students. She will also be pursuing her PhD in Nursing beginning in the Fall of 2017.
Ms. Crimm is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculty, and Sigma Theta Tau Epsilon Phi Chapter. Ms. Crimm is also a past recording secretary for Sigma Theta Tau Epsilon Phi Chapter. She has also been a past member of the Nurse Practitioners of Southwestern Pennsylvania.
Ms. Crimm assumed the role of the Director of the Family (Individual Across the Lifespan) Nurse Practitioner Program in August, 2016.
