Bio

Dr. Koharchik became a part of Duquesne University School of Nursing faculty as a clinical assistant professor in the fall of 2010. She is a certified nurse educator as well as a board-certified nurse executive.  Dr Koharchik earned her MSN from Duquesne University and a DNP from Waynesburg University.

Before becoming a nurse educator, Dr. Koharchik worked for many years in intensive care nursing and in nursing administration.  While at Duquesne, Dr. Koharchik has conducted process improvement projects to insure safe student practice, including an initiative to improve students' competency in medication dosage calculation and an initiative to improve nursing students' immunization rates for influenza.  She has been awarded the Duquesne University School of Nursing Faculty Research Intramural Grant.

She is a member of Delta Kappa Gamma International Sorority for Women Educators and has been a recipient of the Lucille Cornetet Professional Development grant and Woman of Distinction Award.  In 2008, Dr. Koharchik was recognized with the Cameo of Caring for Nurse Educators Award by Citizens School of Nursing. Additionally, Dr. Koharchik has served as an item writer for the National Council for Licensure Examination.
