Bio

Dr. Weideman began teaching at Duquesne University in 2004 as a part time clinical instructor and joined the full time faculty in 2008.  Dr. Weideman earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice from Duquesne University, her Masters in Business Administration from Robert Morris University and her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from  Duquesne University.  Dr. Weideman's scholarship has emerged through the intersection of her clinical expertise, passion for nursing education and desire to positively impact the health of communities and the people residing in them.  It has included a patent for a Virtual Pregnancy learning tool, two NCLEX review books, a CE booklet on Ostomy care and multiple national presentations centered on Service Learning, Community-Academic Partnerships, Simulation, and Inter-Professional Education (IPE).  In 2008, Dr. Weideman and her colleague Dr. Cynthia Walters, became two time recipients of the American Cancer Society's Community Impact Award due to their outstanding work engaging nursing students in the conduction of cancer prevention and screening programs in underserved areas of Pittsburgh.  In 2010, Dr. Weideman was selected as a Jonas Salk Fellow through the Jewish Healthcare Foundation and the University of Pittsburgh Center for Bioethics and Health Law.  This fellowship inspired Dr. Weideman to work with colleague Dr. Marsha McFalls to develop an online IPE course focused on the care of a virtual patient, one of the University's first IPE courses.  In 2012, Dr. Weideman and her colleague Dr. Rebecca Kronk, became initial recipients of the Gaultier Fellowship for Community Engaged Scholarship.  As such Dr. Wiedeman and Dr. Kronk are providing guidance and mentorship to sophomore nursing students as they conduct a Photovoice project to investigate the lived experience of grandparents raising their grandchildren.   Dr. Weideman is a member of the Phi Epsilon Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International, Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, Golden Key Honor Society, and the National League for Nurses.
