Blackboard Upgrade May 2nd to May 3rd

We are upgrading the Blackboard system on May 2nd starting at 8:00 PM until May 3rd at Noon.  This upgrade means that Blackboard will be unavailable within these times.  Please plan accordingly as no one will have access to Blackboard during this time.

    We are Replacing Wimba!

Duquesne University is excited to announce that we will be replacing the Wimba Live Classroom tool with a new webinar tool called Blackboard Collaborate Web Conferencing.

To learn more about Collaborate Web Conferencing, go to www.duq.edu/blackboard and click on the Blackboard Help Tab > Collaborate.

If you have Wimba archives that you would like to retain for use in future courses, go to www.duq.edu/blackboard and select the Blackboard Help Tab > Wimba Archives, for details on what you will need to do.

Request your Summer 2013 Blackboard Course Sites NOW!

To submit your course site requests select the blue Bb Services button on the Blackboard Home page then use your MulitPass username and Password to login to Bb Services. Need help making your request? Call us at x5625.

Please note that we will not begin processing course content migration requests until April 1st.

Read the email sent to all faculty on March 27th for further information regarding Summer course sites.

    Important: Copy-Paste into Blackboard

We have seen recently that the view and functionality of the Blackboard site will be altered if the Paste from Word Mashup is not used when copying and pasting from any outside source into the text editor by either students or instructors. The area of the course where the pasted content is placed becomes corrupt from the excess HTML code in the text editor.

Instead of using the Paste from Word Mashup to add content from an outside source without the excess HTML code, you may also use Notepad (if on Windows OS).

View our Blackboard Help> Bb Basics tab within Blackboard for more detailed information on how to avoid excess HTML code.

Announcing a New Look for Blackboard!

All Blackboard users will see a new log-in page for Blackboard and an overall face-lift to our Blackboard environment.

The changes are mostly cosmetic, with only one new enhancement for Instructors. Instructors will need to "hover" their mouse over things in their Blackboard course site in order to edit/reorder them. A Quick Reference Guide is available, and compares any changes side by side.

    New Self-Guided Tutorials Available

Three new self-guided tutorials are now available for Spring 2013:

    • Getting Started with Blackboard 9
    • Blackboard Grade Center
    • Blackboard Groups

If you would like to enroll in any of these new self-guided tutorials, send an email to bbsupport@duq.edu with the name of the tutorial in the subject line.

Blackboard's Mobile Learn Application is Available!
