Duquesne University is seeking ABET accreditation for the BME program. ABET is a nonprofit, non-governmental organization that accredits college and university programs in the disciplines of applied science, computing, engineering, and engineering technology.
ABET accreditation is not granted until the first class has graduated. Duquesne University has developed a curriculum in line with ABET accreditation standards and in consultation with academicians with extensive engineering curriculum experience and familiarity with ABET standards. Duquesne has a long history of successful accreditation and affiliation relationships with regional and discipline-specific organizations. Dr. Viator, program director, has experience in securing and maintaining ABET accreditation.
Duquesne University will arrange an ABET accreditation visit immediately upon graduation of the first class of BME students. Once ABET has determined the BME program has satisfied accreditation requirements, ABET will backdate accreditation to include the previous graduating class.
