On April 4, 2014, The Beard Institute hosted photographer James Balog and 125 participants for the film viewing of Chasing Ice. In addition, the annual Green to Gold award was presented to American Express. Accepting the award was Tim McClimon, President of the American Express Foundation and VP of Sustainability. Also, the PA Sustainable Small Business Award was presented to Burns and Scalo Roofing by Dr. James Phillips, Senior Director of Sponsored Research at Duquesne University.
Chasing Ice was shortlisted for the 2013 Academy Awards. Because it is a warning bell for climate change, the film has been screened at The White House, the U.S. Congress, the U.K. House of Commons and the United Nations. It has been the subject of features on the NBC Evening News, ABC Nightline, The Late Show with David Letterman, PBS's Moyers & Company and Real Time with Bill Maher.
