Eugene P. Beard Award for Leadership in Ethics

Since 1997, the Eugene P. Beard Award for Leadership in Ethics has been presented each year to a Duquesne University faculty member and a graduating student who best exemplify the University's commitment to moral and spiritual values. The purpose of the award is to recognize a faculty member and student who reflect ethical behavior such as:

  • Diversity and breadth of ethical leadership in University service, community service or family life

  • Ethical leadership that reflects the values of Duquesne University's mission, namely "education for the mind, heart and spirit"

  • Observable and measurable examples of ethical leadership, including consideration of the parties who benefited from the recipient's service
