2013 Dominion Distinguished Scholar Award Presented at the Annual Senior/Alumni Luncheon
Started in 1983, this event honors the current year's A. J. Palumbo School of Business Administration graduating class and provides students with an opportunity to interact with alumni. Additionally, an alumnus/alumnae is recognized for his/her distinguishing career achievement.
Duquesne University senior Nicole Carfang was honored with the 2013 Dominion Distinguished Scholar Award at the 31st annual Senior/Alumni Business School Luncheon. The Dominion Distinguished Scholar Award is presented to the graduating senior of the Palumbo School who best exemplifies the qualities of intellect, character and business insight necessary for success in today's global economy.
Her award was presented by Don Houser, Director of Northeast State and Local Affairs, Dominion Resources Inc., and the keynote address was provided by Lori Bishop Andrews, CFA, Vice President and Senior Investment Advisor, Hawthorn, PNC Family Wealth.
Nicole has a 3.75 grade average in two majors – marketing and sports marketing. She has been active in both the American Marketing Association and the Sports Marketing Association, serving as president of the Sports Marketing Association for the last four years.
With the Sports Marketing Association, she helped establish a mentoring program that links Duquesne students to Pittsburgh Public School children. Nicole has also worked as a tutor, helping others in the business school gain the skills they needed. And she wrote a great essay on the future of our nation’s energy supply.
