Professor Philip Baird is an Associate Professor in the Department of Finance. He earned his Ph. D. and MBA degrees in Finance from the University of Tennessee. His research has been published in scholarly journals including Managerial Finance, Managerial and Decision Economics and the Derivatives Risk Management Service. Currently his research interests are in corporate social and financial performance.
Professor Baird has twice been awarded the Kurt Rethwisch Outstanding Teacher Award (2001, 2007), and he has received the Outstanding Educator Award from the Donahue Business Society (2010). He teaches both graduate and undergraduate courses, including Security Analysis, Fund Management and Financial Management. Professor Baird is the Academic Director of the Red &Blue Fund, a limited partnership with investments in public companies based on students' research in Fund Management and Security Analysis.
