Can I complete the Professional MBA fully online?

→ You can complete all of your classes online with the exception of the Capstone Project course (MGMT 548), which will include a few in-person requirements throughout the semester. Due to the sequencing of online classes, you would need to start the program in the summer semester if you need to complete any or all of the fundamental courses, or the fall semester if you have met the requirements to waive the fundamental courses.

Am I required to take the fundamental courses?

→ Fundamental courses may be required in the areas of financial accounting, microeconomics, statistics, and finance. The online fundamental courses are offered each semester and provide a strong foundation for the related classes in the core curriculum. You may waive the fundamental courses if you have taken equivalent coursework in your undergraduate or other graduate studies, and have graduated within the past five years earning a B- or better in the respective course. When your application is reviewed for admission, the admissions committee will make the determination as to whether you qualify for a waiver for specific fundamental courses.

When can I start the program?

→ You may start the Professional MBA in the fall (late August), spring (mid-January) or summer (mid-May) semesters.

How long does it take to complete the Professional MBA?

→ You may pursue the program part-time or full-time. If you pursue the program part-time, you may complete the program in as little as 6-7 semesters (2-2 ½ years) depending on the need for fundamental courses. As a full-time student, you may complete the program in 4-5 semesters (less than two years) depending on the need for fundamental courses. Please refer to the Recommended Course Sequence.

Do you offer concentrations or specializations?

→ The Professional MBA provides a general management approach to your education. Core courses build upon a broad foundation of business and industry knowledge while the strategy and capstone courses sharpen your strategic skills and critical-thinking abilities. While the program does not offer concentrations or specializations in a particular area, you will have a strong framework of courses to be successful across all business disciplines.

Can I use tuition reimbursement through my employer?

→ Yes, Duquesne University offers deferred billing. The program allows you to defer payment of your tuition bill for up to 30 days after your grades are posted. To qualify, you must pay a $10 processing fee each semester and submit a letter on company letterhead from your human resources department to Student Accounts. The tuition balance must be paid in full by the due date, regardless of whether you have received reimbursement from your employer, to avoid late fees and a hold being placed on your account that would prevent registration for the following semester. You can prepay at any time without penalty. As a student, you are ultimately responsible for payment of tuition and fees. Should your employment status change or your employer cancel authorization of your reimbursement, you are still responsible for payment. Any portion of the tuition and fees not covered by your employer must be paid by the payment due date.

How long are classes?

→ Courses that are three (3) credit hours will meet for the duration of the full semester (15 weeks for spring and fall semesters or 12 weeks for the summer semester). Courses that are 1.5 credit hours will meet for the first half or second half of the semester (7 weeks for fall and spring semesters and 6 weeks for the summer semester).
