Four MBA Sustainability students had the opportunity of a lifetime at the 2014 World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, in January 2014.

Congratulations to Alison Etheridge, Laura Monahan, Jana DiSanti and Stephen Sumpter on their second place finish in the "Business for a Better World" MBA case competition. Their journey began in October when 28 teams from around the world submitted 10 slides with action plans for Suncor, an energy company, to improve performance relative to industry peers on the Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World, an annual benchmark ranking that considers environmental, social, governance and financial performance. To advance to the final round, our team then prepared a 25-page paper (in 17 days!).

"All in all, it has been an amazing experience," said Stephen. "Michael Porter stopped by the event, (and) we even had the chance to greet Tony Blair."

The MBA case competition is a partnership between Corporate Knights, the company for clean capitalism, and the Schulich School of Business at York University in Toronto. Participating in case competitions is one of many extracurricular activities available to all students in the MBA Sustainability program.
