Why did you choose Duquesne University?

I chose Duquesne because the university had a great sports marketing program with faculty that could really help to prepare me for the sports industry and I wanted to go to a school in an area that would provide an exciting college experience.

Tell us about your experiences here.

At Duquesne I have had the opportunity to learn about all the different functions of business, not just marketing and sports marketing. Throughout my business required classes I was able to become good friends with several teachers, and I was able to learn more about their background, the difficult topics I was learning in class, and connections with other people to learn more on subjects I was interested in. With regards to major specific classes, I learned all about the different things that would help to be successful, and how to properly network. The faculty has helped me to reaffirm my interest in the sports industry and has put me in touch with people who I have been lucky enough to intern or volunteer with. In addition, having the opportunity to intern with such teams like the Pittsburgh Penguins, Baltimore Orioles, and Pittsburgh Steelers to name a few are just a few examples of how Duquesne can really offer you great experience while enjoying the day to day college life.

What do you think is the most valuable asset of your program?

The faculty's extensive network throughout the sports industry really helps connect us with others who can help teach more about working in sports. In addition, the vast knowledge that our faculty has really benefited me to learn about how the problems we have in the classroom actually occur in a business setting.

What are you enjoying?

I have really enjoyed the opportunity to learn from professionals who have been in the sports world, know what to expect and help us to better prepare for what is to come. Also, having the chance to work on real life projects for these classes has been really interesting and a great way to work with a variety of people who can help teach you the ins and outs of the business. Also, helping to create the Duquesne Club Lacrosse team has been a great experience while I have been here as well. The overall Pittsburgh culture is second to none and has been one of the best environments you could hope to live in for your college career.
