About the School of Education
As Dean of the School of Education, I have the honor of welcoming visitors to our Web pages as well as to our campus. Whether you use this site to learn about our unique programs, or you visit campus to observe firsthand how we prepare students to become educational leaders, you will find that at the Duquesne University School of Education, the commitment to excellence is our core value.
If you are a prospective student, you should know that our faculty, in addition to being accomplished scholars and respected academics, are dedicated to helping every student attain his or her best.
In addition, I hope you take time to read about the range and rigor of our programs, which attract students from across the nation and the world. Several searches for new faculty are underway and I invite you to read about them.
Unique degree programs throughout the School are helping both pre-service and existing professionals expand their knowledge and enhance their careers. In particular, our master’s and doctoral programs in Counselor Education, School Administration, and School Psychology enjoy a national reputation, just as our NCATE accredited Leading Teacher Program, an innovative undergraduate curriculum, is setting the pace for preparing the next generation of educators to achieve their academic goals. For example, this year a graduate student in the doctoral program in School Psychology won the APA 2007 Dissertation of the Year Award.
At Duquesne, we are proud of our tradition of providing educational experiences that change lives—an education for the mind, heart and spirit. With that tradition as our foundation as well as a commitment to both faculty and student research and scholarship, the School of Education invites you to join us, whatever your interests and aspirations related to the profession of education. We look forward to working and collaborating with you to unlearn your limits.
