Earn additional teaching certification with a M.S.Ed Special Education - Cognitive, Behavior, Physical/health Disabilites (CBP/HD) degree.

Special Education PreK-8

You are eligible to enroll in the Special Education PreK-8 program if you hold one of the following Instructional I certificaitons from the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE):

  • N-3
  • K-6
  • Grades 4-8
  • K-12 (music, all foreign languages, art, BCIT, health & physical education)
  • Reading Specialist
Special Education 7-12 program

You are eligible to enroll in the Special Education PreK-8 program if you hold one of the following Instructional I certifications from the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE):

  • 7-12
  • K-12 (music, all foreign languages, art, BCIT, health & physical education)
  • Reading Specialist

NOTE:
The Special Education Hearing Impaired, Speech and Language, and Visually Impaired instructional certificates do not qualify as content certificates under Chapter 49.85 and therefore, certificate holders cannot add the Special Education PreK-8 or 7-12 certificate areas.

Graduates of This Program Can...

  • Serve as special education teachers for students with cognitive, behavior, and physical/health disabilities in PreK-8 or grades 7-12
  • Serve as specialists in the areas of assessment, curriculum, instruction, learning and behavior support
  • Serve as professional advocates and build collaborative partnerships
