Required Courses for the ESL Program Specialist Certificate

Required courses for the Specialist Certificate provide students with a background in language structure and use, second language acquisition, second language teaching methods, curriculum development and assessment, and multicultural education. These courses are Pennsylvania state-approved and are based on national TESOL standards for the preparation of ESL teachers in K-12 public schools. The program of study provides candidates with the knowledge, skills, and dispositions to successfully work with linguistically and culturally diverse learners.
