Xia Chao, Ph.D.
Xia Chao (Ph.D. Second Language Acquisition and Teaching, University of Alabama, '13) has taught elementary to college age students in the fields of English as a second/foreign language in the U.S. and China, K-12 English language learners instruction, and graduate level courses in TESOL and literacy education. Her research focuses on exploring sociocultural second language and literacy acquisition in accordance with critical applied linguistics. Her work targets the intersection of language, power, identity, class, race, and religion in multilingual and multicultural settings with emphasis on immigrant family literacy and second language teacher education.
Christopher J. Meidl, Ph.D.
Christopher J. Meidl (Ph.D. Curriculum and Instruction: Early Childhood Education, Pennsylvania State University, '08) has taught at public schools in Wisconsin, Louisiana, Texas, and Pennsylvania. His teaching methods encourage future teachers to establish identities built upon knowledge, skills, and dispositions as empowering early childhood educators. His areas of research include character/moral education, classroom management, early childhood pre-service teacher identity, and dispositional development.
