Instructional Technology Specialist Certification Instructions
This information will help you apply to the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) for your Certification as an Instructional Technology Specialist. After completing the Instructional Technology Specialist Certificate Program or Master of Science in Instructional Technology Program, you may apply for the Pennsylvania Instructional Technology Specialist Certification.
To obtain your Pennsylvania Department of Education IT Specialist Certification, you must complete all steps shown below:

| Step 2 |
Verify that you have accumulated at least 75 hours of approved field work. The Field Hours Form now contains the PDE Competency Checklist. Send the Field Hours Field Form that has the Competencies built into it to your instructor. The instructor will approve and send the form to the Program Director who will send it to be entered into the database. Visit the Field Hours page for additional information. |

Once all competencies are completed and field hours are submitted, visit Student and Academic Services Certification and Testing website further information and forms. The certification application has moved to an online system called TIMS (Teacher Information Management System). Candidates are now required to apply for certification online via TIMS, as well as submit some paper materials through Duquesne. |
