A Perfect Choice for Goal-Oriented Professionals
"Program evaluation is a systematic method for collecting, analyzing, and using information to answer questions about projects, policies and programs, particularly about their effectiveness and efficiency."
-Administration for Children and Families (2010), The Program Manager's Guide to Evaluation, Second edition.
The Program Evaluation concentration of the M.S.Ed. in Educational Studies program prepares graduates who can address a national need for highly qualified evaluators to support funded programs across a variety of contexts. The concentration prepares graduates for careers in both the private and public sector such as research analysts, internal evaluators, measurement consultants, evaluation coordinators, policy associates, project managers, and data analysts. Students enrolled in the Program Evaluation concentration learn to assess the strengths and weaknesses of programs, policies, personnel, products and organizations to improve their effectiveness. Students develop the skills necessary to prepare evaluation proposals; create logic models; describe theories of change and theories of action; develop and apply qualitative and quantitative research tools to the evaluation process in order to analyze, summarize and report finding; and make sound recommendations based on those findings.
