Advanced Problems in Contracts and Commercial Law

Course Description

The course is designed to allow students to pursue selected cutting-edge issues in contracts and commercial law. All students will explore the theoretical dimensions of these issues in depth before meeting the challenge of responding to a complex fact situation requiring a pragmatic drafting solution. The student draft will include a memorandum setting forth the bases for the solution. Students will work in teams with individual student's assigned responsibility for different dimensions of the draft and supporting research. The last three sessions will be devoted to team presentations of their work products. Each student in each team will make a presentation on the dimension of the problem to which he or she was assigned. The grade in the course will be based not only on the final drafted work product but on classroom participation throughout the course as well as the final presentation. The course is open to second, third and fourth year students. Materials will be supplied by the instructor. (2 credits)
