Course Description

This course introduces students to trade secret law, a fourth intellectual property regime. The common law development of trade secret protection as well as the doctrine's philosophical and statutory underpinnings, are covered in the course. Also examined are the relationships between federal and state trade secret laws, the relationships between trade secret law and other intellectual property regimes, and the relationships between trade secret law and other areas of law. Such as employment law and law governing business relationships. A technical background is not required to take the course. (3 credits)
