Frances J. Chivers Scholarship

Competition: An original interpretative essay of five to ten pages, with appropriate documentation.  The essay must have been submitted in an English course at Duquesne and have been graded and commented on by the Instructor.

Eligibility: Students must be current English Majors. Students must be enrolled at Duquesne for at least a semester after submitting the application.

Applications are available during the Spring semester only in the English Department main office, 637 College Hall.

Application due May 11, 2018.

Carroll Creative Writing Scholarship

Competition: Students must submit 5 to 10 pages of original creative writing.

Eligibility: Any current Duquesne students can apply. Students must be enrolled at Duquesne for at least a semester after submitting the application.

Applications are available during the Spring semester only in the English Department main office, 637 College Hall.

Application due May 11, 2018.

O'Donnell Undergraduate Research Award

Description of Award:

This award will support a defined research project conducted by an undergraduate English major at Duquesne.  To be eligible, a student must plan to return to Duquesne for at least a semester after receiving the award and must be an English major in good standing.  The funds must be used in a way that directly facilitates and advances a research project defined by the student.  Items/activities that will be considered for support include:  pursuit of an independent course of study; travel to archives / libraries; tuition and/or travel costs for a specialized course outside of Duquesne; accommodation costs associated with research travel. (to be conducted during the summer months)

Eligibility: This scholarship is open to Engilsh majors only. Students must be enrolled at Duquesne for at least a semester after submitting the application.
