Call for Abstracts

Scholars in ethics and related fields are invited to submit a 250 word abstract (in English) for the Normativity in Bioethics Conference. The abstract should focus on the broad theme of normativity in bioethics. Ideally, presentations for the conference should focus on one or more of the following questions:

  • To what extent does the contemporary globalized context of bioethics necessitate a reassessment of the concept of normativity?
  • How do non-Western religions challenge the understanding of normativity in bioethics?
  • Is it possible to define a more nuanced understanding of normativity that allows for plurality and dissent within particular normative bioethical discourses?
  • How can we deal with competing normative bioethical discourses within and between worldviews on a practical level?

Abstracts chosen to present at the Conference will be given 20 minutes to present their research. Conference language will be English. Abstracts may be submitted via email to Daniel Hurst hurstd@duq.edu (Ph.D. student, Duquesne University, USA) by February 15, 2016.
