Manuel Zuniga

Manuel Zuniga served in the Peace Corps from 1998 to 2000 in the country of South Africa. While in the Peace Corps, he worked as a Schools and Community Resource Volunteer (and also met his future wife, Iris Winter, who followed him as a Peace Corps Fellow in the Policy Center). Following his service in South Africa Manuel returned to the United States and began his studies in  the Graduate Center for Social and Public Policy.

During his studies, he worked and collaborated with two local non-profit organizations, Goodwill Industries and the Vietnam Veterans Leadership Program. Manuel describes these experiences of working in the non-profit sector as a chance to practice and sharpen the invaluable tools and skills he was learning in the Policy Center. Manuel explained, “The policy analysis and implementation skills I developed through my coursework and field experiences have been applied towards my career goals in many beneficial, diverse, and unforeseen ways.”

After graduating from the Policy Center in 2003, Manuel accepted a position working for the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission as a Human Relations Representative. There, he enforced policy and investigated cases of discrimination in employment, education, housing and public accommodations.
