World Literature

Integrating World Literature as a Minor

World Literature is a flexible, interdisciplinary minor program sponsored by the Departments of Classics, English, and Modern Languages and Literatures. It allows students to study literary works from many countries and time periods in different departments in their original language or in English translation.

The program allows students to explore and integrate literary studies with disciplines like:

  • psychology
  • sociology
  • philosophy
  • theology, and
  • literary theory.

Exploring the World's Traditions

While the program's focus is the Western world, (European, North American, and Latin American), there are opportunities to explore other traditions, such as Asian, African and Native American literatures.
