Digital Media Arts - Web Concentration

The Digital Media Arts major consists of two concentrations - Multimedia Development and Web Development.

Web Development is the design and programming of Web sites. You can focus on graphic design and usability, or work with the more technical aspect of database driven dynamic websites and emerging Web technologies. Your mentor will be able to recommend courses to enable you to specialize in web design or the more technical field of client and server programming.

Digital Media Arts Major Core (6 credits)

  • JMA 440 - Professional Development & Project Management

Web Concentration Core (9 credits)

  • JMA 226 - Introduction to Web Design and Development
  • JMA 318 - Web Design
  • JMA 472 - JavaScript

Electives (9 credits)

Students must take 9 additional department credits. Students are encouraged to talk with their mentor to choose an emphasis (a suggested but not mandatory direction of study). Suggested emphasis examples include:

Web Programming (Choose 9 Credits):

  • JMA 428 - Server Side Scripting with ASP
  • JMA 448 - XML Programming
  • JMA 475 - Database for Web Development
  • JMA 495 - Server Side Scripting with PHP

Web Design (Choose 9 Credits):

  • JMA 308 - Interface Design
  • JMA 345 - Web Development Tools
  • JMA 464 - Human Computer Interaction
