Dean's Welcome

Dean's Welcome

Dear Friend of Music,

Welcome to the website for the Mary Pappert School of Music. At Duquesne, we are educating the musical leaders of the twenty first century through challenging music degree programs for the mind, heart, and spirit. Graduates of our school serve in respected leadership positions in a broad array of musical settings. Our distinguished faculty and talented students perform over two hundred concerts on campus every year, with numerous tours, broadcasts, and recordings that reach a worldwide audience.

Our University motto, Spiritus est qui vivificat, it is the Spirit who gives life, inspires our classrooms, rehearsals, and concert venues. We encourage prospective students and families to explore our website, and if you believe that your dreams and ambitions may be a good fit with our offerings, we invite you to please contact the Director of Music Admissions for further information.

In the meantime, thank you again for visiting us; we look forward to hearing from you.

Yours truly for music,

Edward Kocher, Ph.D.
Dean and Professor
