GUEST ARTIST

The Mary Pappert School of Music is proud to provide its students with not only a superb faculty, but also with world-renowned guests artists to support and enhance their programs. These musicians and lecturers come from all over the globe to provide real-world experience and insight to our students. In recent weeks, Mary Pappert School of Music has welcomed many guests, including the following musicians, who have offered a combination of master classes and recitals to our students:

  • Javier Vinasco - Internationally-known clarinetist and professor at the Universidad in Medellin, Columbia
  • Mark Delavan - Baritone, Metropolitan Opera
  • Steve Dudas - Composer and guitarist associated with acts including Aerosmith, Alice Cooper, Ozzy Osbourne, Ringo Starr, and many more
  • The Harmonic Brass - Brass quintet hailing from Munich
  • Mickey Thomas Terry - Organist and Director of Music at Saint Joseph's on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC

On the importance of bringing guest artists to campus, James Houlik, Chair of Performance says, "Pittsburgh is a metropolitan area, and its art scene is thriving, drawing artists from around the world to our city. Often, we have the good fortune of being able to connect with these artists and bring them to campus to share their talent and experience with our students. These experiences are crucial to the enrichment of their lives and education."

Still to come this school year, Mary Pappert School of Music will host guest artists including William Bennett (flute), the U.S. Army Field Band Saxophone Quartet, Tomás Lozano (hurdy-gurdy), Abbie Conant (trombone), and many more.
