Application Checklists

Application requirements will vary depending on the degree or instrument for which you are applying so it is important to follow the Application Checklists. 

Undergraduate Freshman and Transfers

  • Duquesne University Application
  • First Time Freshmen - Official High School Transcripts
  • Official SAT or ACT scores. Please Note: Music Applicants can apply as Test Optional
  • Transfer - Official Transcripts from all colleges/universities attended.
  • Register to Audition or Submit a Recorded Audition
  • Provide the names and email addresses of up to 3 recommenders. This is optional for undergraduates. You will have the opportunity to provide this information when you are registering for your audition.
  • Music Education Applicants: Submit an Essay "Why I want to study Music Education"  You will have the option to upload your essay when you are registering for your audition.
  • Music Technology; Electronic Composition Applicants: Submit a digital portfolio of original compositions
  • Voice auditions: submit a list of your audition repertoire for the accompanists You will have the option to upload your audition repertoire list when you are registering for your audition.  We do not need you to submit the music. Please provide the title, composer and key of your audition repertoire.
  • For International Applicants applying for a student visa, an affidavit, in English, from a financial institution documenting the applicant's ability to finance their entire education and living expenses while in the United States. If governments or parents supply financial support, an affidavit certifying the amount to be furnished must be included. Currency must be translated into United States dollars

Master of Music

  • Completed application form.
  • Three letters of recommendation from professionals in the field who can attest to the applicant's qualifications. You will have the opportunity to provide the names and email addresses of your recommenders during the audition registration process.
  • Official transcripts from each institution attended, including any attended during summer sessions, regardless of whether credit was received. Please ask the registrar of each college or university to send official transcripts to the Director of Music Admissions (see below). International applicants may also provide an International Credential Evaluation such as ECE or WES, but it is not required.
  • Statement of Purpose (approximately 250 words) describing goals and objectives for enrolling in the graduate program. (Uploaded during audition registration process)
  • TOEFL or IELTS scores (Non-native English speakers)
  • Current Performance and Professional (Work) resume. (uploaded during the audition registration process)
  • Register to audition or submit a recorded audition.
  • For International Applicants applying for a student visa, an affidavit, in English, from a financial institution documenting the applicant's ability to finance their entire education and living expenses while in the United States.   • Graduate Assistantship Application

Artist Diploma

  • Completed application form.
  • Three letters of recommendation from outstanding professionals familiar with the applicant's performance. You will have the opportunity to provide the names and email addresses of up to three recommenders during the audition registration process.
  • Official undergraduate and master's transcripts covering all work taken or in progress at each college, conservatory and university attended. Please ask the registrar of each college or university to send official transcripts to the Director of Music Admissions (see below).
  • Solo repertory list. (uploaded during the audition registration process)
  • Evidence of performing experience, such as programs, reviews, etc. (uploaded during the audition registration process)
  • Current Performance and Professional (Work) resume
  • Register to audition or submit a recorded audition.
  • For International Applicants applying for a student visa, an affidavit, in English, from a financial institution documenting the applicant's ability to finance their entire education and living expenses while in the United States.
