Research Project

Aim 1: Proteomic analysis of Gorilla seminal plasma in comparison to human and chimpanzee seminal proteomes.

Aim 2: Investigating the possibility of pseudogenization in a chimpanzee protein, Semenogelin 2, through protein detection methods and sequence analysis.

Aim 3: Testing enzymatic function of key seminal plasma proteins among human, chimpanzee, and hypothetical human-chimpanzee ancestor in relation to primate mating systems and sexual selection.
