Focus Area Courses

Students choose one pair of seminar/project courses among the following opportunities: 

NURSING AND HEALTH CARE ETHICS

UPNS 450 Seminar in Nursing and Health Care Ethics - 3 credits
The RN-BSN seminar provides a unique and challenging experience for students who have exhibited interest in a focus area such as (Nursing and Health Care Ethics) to enhance the development of creativity and the ability to engage in scientific inquiry. The seminar provides opportunity in evidence-based projects, service projects, and other creative endeavors in association with experts in area of study. Emphasis is given to consideration of innovative approaches to problem solving in nursing and health care with respect to the area of interest

UPNS 451W Baccalaureate Project in Nursing and Health Care - 3 credits
The student, with faculty supervision, plans a semester-long written project that will serve as the culminating project for the student's RN-BSN program. This project will integrate the academic and practical knowledge the student has acquired in the Seminar Course (Nursing and Health Care Ethics). The selected Baccalaureate project will be primarily overseen by a faculty member assigned to the course. Students will initially submit a proposal, and when accepted by the course professor, develop objectives relevant to the written project. A timeline for completion of the Baccalaureate Project will be described in the course syllabus. Didactic class content will focus on material supplementary to the student completing the Baccalaureate Project endeavor, and readings related to writing for publication

GLOBAL HEALTH AND HUMAN RIGHTS

UPNS 452 Seminar in Global Health and Human Rights - 3 credits
