Fellowship and Residency Programs
Center for Pharmacy Care PGY1 Community Practice Residency
The purpose of this program is to prepare the resident with the clinical and professional skills necessary for a position as adjunct faculty, direct patient care opportunities in both ambulatory care and community practice, and advanced PGY2 programs.
This will be accomplished by advanced clinical practice in the management of medication therapy for various ambulatory disease states in a variety of health care settings. The resident will be proficient in achieving optimal drug therapy outcomes as part of interdisciplinary health care teams, demonstrate competence in communication and in educating other health care professionals, patients, students and the community on drug related topics. Residents will participate as preceptors with student pharmacists on advanced pharmacy practice experiences from the Duquesne University Mylan School of Pharmacy. The resident will demonstrate professional maturity by developing a personal philosophy of practice, monitoring and evaluating their own performance and exhibiting commitment to the profession. The resident will adhere to the Duquesne University Mission and Vision while supporting the Mylan School of Pharmacy in their strategic plan. They will be trained in research methodologies as well as teaching methods to further advance both practice and academic skill sets.
