What Happens once you have Applied?
You already applied to the Duquesne University Italian Maymester and you are wondering what's next. The following steps are here to assist you as you prepare for your 4 weeks at the Italian Campus.
Step #1: Receive a Provisional Admission OR a Place on the Waitlist
Provisional Admission:
Once your application is received by the Office of International Programs, you will receive an email stating that you are "provisionally admitted" to study at the Italian Maymester. "Provisional admission" means that you are subject to the following conditions:
- Depositing $500 by the deadline January 15.
- Have at least a minimum GPA of 2.75.*
- Receive Disciplinary Clearance from the Office of Student Life.*
*Only students who have deposited will be subject to these reviews.
Waitlist:
Applications are accepted until the campus is full. However, not all provisionally accepted students deposit, and not all deposited students are cleared to attend. Waitlisted students often get the opportunity to attend, so it is worthwhile to apply even when you end up on the waitlist. Once the deposit deadline has passed, the OIP will have a better sense of whether waitlisted students will have a chance to go.
Step #2: Receive a Detailed Package about the Program (including deposit instructions)
Once your application is submitted, you will recieve additional information pretaining to your deposit. Questions can be directed to Kim at X1431
Step #3: Deposit by the Deadline
Your deposit will assure you a place in the program subject to meeting the GPA and Student Life review. Your deposit is fully refundable if you do not pass these reviews. You will only lose your place if your GPA falls below 2.75 and/or the Office of Student Life indicates a history of behavioral issues that would put you at risk abroad.
All deposits can be made in person by check payable to Duquesne University (submit to Kim in 601 Union) or online.
