What is a Spring Break Away course?

  • A Duquesne University course embedding international material into your studies for the entire semester here on campus
  • Includes a faculty-led study tour during spring break, February 28 2015 - March 8 2015.
  • A study tour is integral to the academic course; all students enrolling in the course must commit to participating in and paying for the spring break study tour component.
  • Cost of this component will be $2,900 per student (as of Spring 2015).

    Course Format

    Each course will meet on campus for one 3-hour class per week during the Spring semester.  The early weeks of study preceeding Spring Break will prepare you to take full advantage of your week at the international site. Upon returning from your spring break abroad, your studies will continue and include a project or paper based upon your international study experience.

    Study Tour Format

    The study tour will travel as a group under the guidance of your professor.  All travel arrangements will be arranged prior to departure and will include airfare, land transportation, hotels site admissions and many meals. 

    Application Process
    Students interested in registering for one of Duquesne's Spring Break Away courses should follow the below timeline to stay on track as you plan for your time abroad.

    Attend an information session

    Meet with your Academic Advisor

    October 17th Application Deadline ($100 deposit is due with Online Application)




    Notification of your acceptance

    Pre-register for the class and apply for your passport

    Due: $1400 deposit to hold your place

    January 12th Balance due to your faculty leader
