School-based Community Activities

Duquesne schools operate their own unique programs and services to involve students in engaging and serving community members.

The Community and University Honors Seminar

Every spring this cross-disciplinary Honors College seminar focuses on a neighborhood near the University. Students research conditions and needs in the neighborhood, then undertake a project in partnership with residents to improve conditions there.

Community-based Research

Duquesne’s Centers and Institutes provide community services through research projects by our student and faculty. They:

  • Work to improve health, education and human services
  • Help non-profit organizations and business owners develop leaders and growth
  • Help teachers explore new ways to encourage learning and improve instruction
