Welcome from Ralph L. Pearson,

Provost and Academic Vice President

Welcome to Duquesne University.  We value the expertise that you bring to our students’ learning.  Over the years, adjunct faculty members have played an important role in teaching our students and modeling professional practices for them.

Duquesne University is committed to the Spiritan tradition of excellence in liberal and professional education, the development of moral and spiritual values, an ecumenical atmosphere open to diversity, and service to others here and throughout the world.  You are joining a community with a strong legacy.

Duquesne’s Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE) supports all faculty members in their commitment to teaching and learning.  CTE offers orientations, workshops, book studies, one-on-one consulting, and online and print resources to promote your continued development as an educator.  The Center also updates annually the Faculty Resource Guide, which summarizes policies, resources and services.  Please take some time to become acquainted with CTE by exploring this website.

Each semester, we welcome a wide variety of part-time faculty.  They represent numerous different professions in the community, including artists, musicians, arts and sciences, business, law, education and health.  They make an invaluable contribution to our students’ learning.

I wish you every success in your teaching at Duquesne.

Sincerely,

Ralph L. Pearson

Provost and Academic Vice President
