Unlike any other scientific idea, evolution has been entangled with the law in the United States for more than 80 years.
From the 1925 Scopes “Monkey Trial” to the present day, the teaching of the science of evolution has been repeatedly banned or constrained in public schools on religious grounds and this pattern shows no sign of stopping.
This year Duquesne University Darwin Day will examine the fascinating history of these activities and look at why they so often end up in the American courts.
