The Honorable Lawyer: the 1911 Bar Exam Revisited
Presented by Professor Mark Yochum
School of Law Room 203
What does it mean to be an honorable lawyer? This seminar will explore the changing nature of our perception as a profession of what is required to be the best of lawyers. We will review the Pennsylvania Bar Examination of 1911 to reveal the mutation over the last century of the Bar's attitude toward the social, educational, moral and philosophical background thought necessary for the successful and elevated practice of law. While no test is fun, you will be able to test yourself (with no downside risk) to see if you could pass the 1911 exam. (Bluebooks will be provided!) We will look at law, literature, logarithms and Latin. Good luck (because we do not think you will pass!)
This course has been approved by the Pennsylvania Continuing Legal Education Board for zero (0) hours of substantive law, practice and procedure CLE credit and three (3) hours of ethics, professionalism or substance abuse CLE credit.

I Courthouse offers yet another mock jury service for preparation-focused litigants. Those wishing to file a claim should explore this resource, which provides a virtual procedure mimicking the traditional legal system. The user will find a virtual courthouse to present trial in from of a peer jury, from the comfort of their own home or office. The site offers potential jurors the opportunity to join. A particular highlight of I Courthouse is the "JurySoft 2.0" software that assesses cases throughout any stage, identifying strengths and weaknesses, as well as probability of winning in real court.
