Bloomberg Law

Bloomberg law is emerging as one of the most important legal research resources. Previously, Bloomberg was available on a fee/subscription basis only. More recently, it has been offered to law schools for free. Bloomberg provides primary and secondary resources in conjunction with market news. Bloomberg offers a “Law Reports” feature, which reviews of the most current case law and statutory developments, written by legal professionals. The “Law Dockets” resource provides “Unparalleled access to dockets and filings of all federal courts plus many U.S. state and international courts, with features including unlimited searches and new case alerts.” The Bloomberg home page highlights legal news links, as well as recent podcasts. For instance, visitors will find an October 27 posdcast titled “Hausfeld Says NCAA Created ‘Student Athlete’ to Avoid Liability, Payments”. Simply click on the title link and press play to view the interview with Hausfeld’s chairman. Some other features include “Bcite”, a legal citation tool, Research trail function that keeps track of the last 90 days, and a “Workspaces” collaborative function that allows users to share their work with colleagues.
