We are pleased to inform you that the Washington Post selected Dean Ken Gormley’s book, “The Death of American Virtue: Clinton vs. Starr,” as one of the Top Ten books of 2010. In making that selection, the editors of the Washington Post wrote: “Gormley’s signal contribution is his heroic evenhandedness. All but the most unregenerate partisans should deem this book fair.” The Post selection comes on the heels of Janet Maslin of the New York Times picking "The Death of American Virtue" as one of her top ten books of the year, as well. Below is the link to the Washington Post announcement that appeared Sunday, December 12.

The Investigation of Drug Facilitated Sexual Assault
January 21, 2011

Allegations of drug-facilitated crimes, particularly drug-facilitated sexual assault (DFSA), have increased significantly in the past decade.  Unfortunately, because of the numerous challenges of these cases, they are often not prosecuted due to lack of solid evidence, including detection of the drugs used to facilitate the crime. This presentation by FBI Laboratory chemist Dr. Marc LeBeau and Sexual Assault Response Team of Allegheny County nurses Valerie Schreiber and Debra Shane will address the challenges of DFSA. The focus will be on the various drugs used to commit the crime with a demonstration on how these drugs effect the reporting of the crime and the ability to detect them in toxicological analyses. Case examples will be provided to illustrate the difficulties encountered in DFSA cases.

Please visit the Forensic Fridays web page for more information.

GPO Access will be going away soon as the U.S. Government Printing Office rolls out the Federal Digital System (FDsys), an advanced digital system that will enable GPO to manage Government information from all three branches of the U.S. Government. Learn about the new system and its features, what content is available through it, and search strategies. Not only is FDsys a powerful tool for the public to access online, authoritative Federal information, but it also serves as a preservation repository for the content and a content management system for Federal agencies.
