DCLI Student-Employment Opportunities 2014 Summer Session & 2014-2015 Academic Year

DCLI is accepting applications for Student-Assistants for the 2014 Summer Session and 2014-2015 Academic Year. Submit completed applications to Edna Maravich, 4th floor Murray Pavilion. Only one application is necessary to apply for both Summer AND the 2014 - 2015 Academic Year. The application is available at the following link:

*Unfortunately, graduating students will not be eligible for employment after the current semester. Also, the library Student Assistant position is not available to students also employed as Research Assistants or other University positions.

1Ls & 2Ls:  Students may continue to use their current Lexis Advance® ID for any purpose this summer-including work they perform at a law firm, corporation or government agency. 
Lexis Advance ID all summer long for:

  • Any purpose at all

  • All legal content and news on their current law student ID

  • Unlimited hours-per-week

Think Like a Lawyer
The Think Like A Lawyer feature allows students to take advantage of training opportunities prior to heading out this summer. As you know, many employers require or highly recommend their incoming associates attend all applicable training offered at their school. Think Like a Lawyer training opportunities include Professional Research Certification designed to include the research skills expected among incoming associates based on feedback from commercial customers. The site also provides links to the summer access and 3L Graduate ID programs.

Sciullo CLE Series - Spring 2014

The School of Law courses in the Dean John J. Sciullo CLE Series are offered Saturday mornings, 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., in Room 203. Register online for the series or individual courses. Cost remains $300 for the series or $90 per course. Members of Duquesne Law Alumni Assoc. receive a $25 discount each fall and spring. Series or course payments can be made online at time of registration or at the door.

This subscription-bases online legal research service provides a comprehensive collection of resources for the attorneys and other legal professionals. Users will find case law, statutory law, administrative law, and other types of primary law from every state. Additional resources include PACER dockets access, and secondary resources like legal newspapers and forms collections. Fastcase is searchable by keyword, natural language, or citation look-up. The site offers integrated citation analysis: "Fastcase is the only service that allows you to find the most cited case in your results with a single click". The user benefits from this time-saving aspect of Fastcase, unlike other proprietary resources that require running citation through another search to update the analysis. Finally, the site explains that it offers a more affordable option to other traditional research services, which is an added bonus.
