Please Maintain Quiet in the Center

DCLI strives to maintain a quiet place to study. The Center requests the cooperation of all students and faculty in adhering to our quiet study rule, especially during the upcoming Exams Period. This includes refraining from loud talking, cell phone use, or any other loud behavior. Please respect your fellow student's desire for quiet study space. Study rooms are available for groups that need to collaborate. Otherwise, please save any conversations for outside of the Center. This policy pertains to all areas of the Center, including all three floors of the library and the Service Center desk. We are confident, with everybody's cooperation, that we will successfully provide a quiet place to study.

DCLI Group Study Room Policy

There are eight study rooms currently available for group study purposes. These rooms are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Keys are signed out at the Circulation Desk only to current Duquesne law students with valid DU ID cards. Students may use these rooms, for group study only, in blocks of two hours (with one renewal). Beginning April 23, the rooms may also be reserved up to one day in advance, by filling out the study room sheet at the Circulation Desk or by calling 412-396-5017

GlobaLex

http://www.nyulawglobal.org/Globalex/

GlobalLex is an online research collection created by New York University School of Law, and specializes in foreign and international law. The site provides three main research categories to choose: International Law, Foreign Law, and Comparative Law. Choose the Foreign Law link to access an alphabetical list of countries. For instance, if you choose “China”, the site will provide a detailed Guide to Chinese law divided into chapters, including much descriptive information about the Chinese legal system, as well as links to major Chinese law sources online.

GlobalLex is especially important, as a resource tool, since it provides research guides for every country in one convenient location. In another example, if you’re seeking information about the Croatian legal system, the site will provide a table of contents, including descriptions of Croatia’s judicial, legislative, and executive branches. Many of the countries listed on GlobaLex, like Croatia, post an “Update” link, allowing the visitor to easily identify newest additions to the foreign law collection. GlobalLex is an excellent resource for law in other countries of the world.  Some other features of this site include the International law Link, where you can find a list of inks to International Organizations. The Comparative Law section offers helpful guides in emphasizing the differences and similarities in various systems of law. For instance, you can find a link to the Cannon law research guide.
