Law Students Appointed to Prestigious Posts

Christy Gamble has been appointed National Student Director for the ABA Law Student Division's Arbitration Competition (AC) Subcommittee. As National Student Director, Christy will serve as the student representative to the AC Subcommittee. She will serve from June 1, 2012 to May 31, 2013.
Christy has also been appointed Executive Lieutenant Governor for the 3rd Circuit of the American Bar Association Law Student Division for the 2012-2013 Academic Year. Congratulations Christy!

Stephanie Johnson has been named a 2012-2013 Pittsburgh Schweitzer Fellow (through the Albert Schweitzer Fellowship). This year, Johnson will join approximately 240 other Schweitzer Fellows across the country in conceptualizing and carrying out service projects that address the social and environmental determinants of health in underserved communities. Johnson will work in the Penn Hills, Homewood, and Wilkinsburg areas on developing knowledge of the effects of foreclosures and short sales on affected communities. Her project will include seminars and counseling on the the financial and health effects of financial defaults.

Upon completion of her Fellowship year, Johnson will become a Schweitzer Fellow for Life-and join a vibrant network of nearly 2,500 individuals who are skilled in, and committed to, addressing the health needs of underserved people throughout their careers as professionals.  Congratulations Stephanie

The United Nations web site is indispensable for anyone interested in International law. Choose the English version of “Welcome” to enter the site. It is divided into five main categories: Peace & Security, Development, Human Rights, and Humanitarian Affairs, and International Law. The link to the UN Security Council is located near the center of the homepage and provides UN Resolutions in order by year. For example, you can choose 2012 to access a list of resolutions in PDF format from that year. If you select “S/RES/2041 (2012)” from the list, you’ll find an UN Resolution on the situation in Afghanistan. The Security Council page offers a Web Cast option, broadcasting daily press briefings, meetings of the General Assembly, addresses by dignitaries, and other UNTV programming. Visit un.org to keep up-to-date with the latest developments in the international community.
