Wireless access points are available from all floors of the Center. The wireless network is available only to members of the Law School community who have configured their laptops according to the approved wireless network guidelines established by CTS.
Microsoft Office 2010 Suite is installed in all of the Center’s computers. Individual Microsoft 2010 applications that are provided include Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Access. Microsoft Photo Editor and WordPerfect are also available.
Network Outlets for Laptops
There are multiple active network outlets on the first and ground floors of the Center, which can be used by students who have their laptops configured for the campus network.
There is one HP Scanjet 550C, and one HP Scanjet 7800, located in Room 117 of the Center. These scanners are available for use by students and faculty.
Reminder: ACLL offering Free Westlaw & Lexis Classes
ALLEGHENY COUNTY LAW LIBRARY TO OFFER FREE TRAINING COURSES ON LEXIS AND WESTLAW ON THE FOURTH TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY OF THE MONTH. The following schedule of introductory Lexis and Westlaw courses will be held in the ACLL computer lab.

Mark Perlin, CEO and chief scientific officer of Pittsburgh-based DNA
firm Cybergenetics, and Deputy State Attorney General Tony Krastek will
headline a seminar designed to offer prosecuting and defense attorneys,
law enforcement officers, judges and others involved in the criminal justice
system with a fundamental understanding of the identification value and
limitations of DNA evidence. Among other topics, the speakers will discuss
a recent case in which Mr. Krastek successfully prosecuted a state trooper
for the slaying of a Blairsville dentist based in part on Dr. Perlin's
expertise. One or more additional speakers may be announced. (This program
is approved by the PA CLE Board for 2 hours of substantive credit and
1 hour of ethics credit.)

Legal Research Plus
Legal Research Plus offers a blog about new legal research information and is authored by several Advanced Legal Research instructors from Stanford University. The authors hope to share what they’ve learned via their blog. Users can browse content by subject, for example, the “Foreign Law” link lists blog contributions regarding the Islamic Law Database or the Jerusalem Review of Legal Studies, as well as many other posts regarding legal research and education from around the world. Additionally, the site is navigable by “Recent Posts” and “Archives” links listed prominently on the left side of the blog. LRP is a great place to access the latest information regarding legal research news and resources.
